The organic cotton used in these sheets and pillow cases is grown completely without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers and is certified organic by the respected Dutch organic standards organization, SKAL. The cotton is also processed into fabric in a totally natural fashion, without the use of chemicals. The organic cotton fabric is preshrunk using steam to keep its fit. Cotton is the most heavily sprayed crop on earth, consuming 25% of all the world's production of pesticides. Before World War II, all cotton was grown organically and the incidence of cancer was low. After World War II, pesticide use became endemic and cancer rates soared to the high levels seen today. We think there is a connection, and it just makes good sense to sleep on organic cotton sheets and bedding.
